German sentence translation

#1

Post by Kriegsmarine Großadmiral » 22 Feb 2018, 19:14

I need help with translating this sentence as accurate as possible:
"Nach der Verabschiedung weder zur Verfügung der Kriegsmarine gestellt, noch zum aktiven Wehrdienst herangezogen."
Is it possible the "weder" is a typo, and perhaps it should say "wieder"?
Thanks.

There is no typo. "weder... noch..." means "neither... nor..."

Well, it's out of context, so we don't know what they are talking about...

One of possibilities:

"After the approval/adoption (it) was neither placed at the disposal of the Kriegsmarine, nor used for active military service."

Thank you.
This sentence is a footnote in a bio of a german Admiral. He retired in 1928 and wasn't in active service after that.

Wrong

It can´t be a "it" as no one can draft a "it" to active military service. Nor can a "it" get a farewell/discharge.
