Help with a photo inscription! (Sütterlin)
Help with a photo inscription! (Sütterlin)
Hello everyone,
Does anyone recognise the enclosed inscription please?
The first word (abbreviation) is "Lt.", which is followed by a name.
The last word is "Gorajde" (Goražde, a town in Bosnia).

Thanks very much in advance,
Ivan

nach dem in the middle line
What's on the photo?

Hello, Greg, and thanks for helping.
The photo shows two men posing in the country (the name should be German).
Cheers,
Ivan

Long shot, but that place near Gorajde could be Zornatz, misspelled Зорлаци.
Re: Help with a photo inscription! (Sütterlin)
At the moment, I can only agree that it is indeed a long shot But I do appreciate the suggestion - as always, dear Greg! The last two letters in that word seem to appear also near the end of the officer's name... (not 100% sure)

Re: Help with a photo inscription! (Sütterlin)
Hi Ivan and Greg
This handwriting is so hard to read, but I agree with Greg´s proposal so far.
But I read the name after "Lt." not as one single name, because the letter you marked in red is for me a capital “H”, so I read the last part as “Hoch”. It could be even 3 words after "Lt.", if you take a close look at them, they are separated. So the first word after Lt. could be “Mann”, but this is also guessing due to this doodling handwriting.
Best Regards
Armin

Hello, Armin, and thanks for helping.
The word after the "Lt.", however, is a surname (one word), something like Hemm......ich.
The handwriting is indeed horrible
Cheers,
Ivan

It could be Hemmerlich.
r is the same as in Gorajde, and he makes no difference between i and j.
It's even better now with that village Zornati - Зорлаци.

Re: Help with a photo inscription! (Sütterlin)
Thanks one more time, Greg. I'm not sure, though, whether that is indeed what's written... (Especially regarding the last word in the 2nd row; I can't see Zornati or Zorlaci, nor am I sure that it's actually a location.)
Cheers,
Ivan

Nobody is sure of anything with this handwriting and a small sample!

Sometimes it helps posting the picture, even if not much is to be seen.
Is it possible that the word after "Lt." is a first and last name?
If the words in the second line are indeed "nach dem",
would it be possible that the word following could have been an event or happening?
Just some ideas,
Hiltraut
