There is a paragraph in the 5th Cavalry Division's war diary entry for 14 July 1941

'Огонь был исключительно интенсивным. После огневого налета противник ипикрываясь огневым валом перешол в контратаку. Части дивизии понеся большие потери, неоднократно переходя в контратаку, плыомерно стали отходить и к 22:00 оторвались от противника. Противник потерял за сутки боя не менее полка в личном составе и много материальной части. (Наступали во весь рост и в нетрезбом виде)'

They [enemy soldiers] were attacking standing in full height and being drunk.

Thanks Art. What an interesting comments. I have seen German documents complaining about the infantry's habit of standing up while firing from gain fields, which lead to unneccessary casualties.
