I'd be very grateful if anyone could offer an opinion on this snippet from the diary of 16th Panzer Division for 10 September 1943:
I think it means something like:16.10 Uhr Beginn des eigenen Angriffe auf Battipaglia, angesetzt durch I./Fallsch.Jg.Rgt.3, 2 Pz.-Kpn. und Teile Div.-Begleit-Kp. unter Führung von Major Böhmler.
I'm interested in whether the 2 Pz.-Kpn. means No.2 Panzer Company or 2 panzer companies. I think that the "n" on the end of Kpn. indicates the plural - can anyone confirm that please. Our attacks begin on Battipaglia, conducted by I./Fallsch.Jg.Rgt.3, 2 Panzer Kompanie and parts of the Divisional Escort Company, all under the command of Major Böhmler.
An earlier entry reveals that Major Böhmler was in command of the Fallschirm.Jg Battalion, hence my assumption that he was put in charge of the whole force during this attack.
Thanks for any advice.
