I like to ask your help in translating hand written text and abbreviations shown in attached organization chart of 14 army of Karelian front in October 1944. You can use numbers as references for translations. Even partial translations will be appreciated.

I can offer a few fragments I think;

50 - Infantry
51 - Artillery
52 - Mortars (120-mm types)?
53 - Multi barrel rocket launchers?
54 - Tank troops
55 - don't know

The right hand column might be headed 'total of front'?

The details numbered 1 to 41 I think are unit type abbreviations. 1 might be Rifle Corps, 2 I thought was Rifle Division, 3 Mechanised Brigade and 4 Tank Brigade? 7 looks like machine gun 'something'. I can't tell if the figure after the abbreviation refers to the number of units of that type but they don't seem to relate to anything under the centre column (14 Army).

Hopefully Art and/or Eugen will stop by to sort it out.

Gary

You are right, To make it more readible, the view above only shows one army (14A) of Karelian front and the numbers in right hand column represent total units of Karelian front. Attached pls. find the entire picture.

Thanks Greg, this helps a lot.
With the information provided, I think I can manage pretty well with the most of remaining abbreviations.

Very nice link Greg, and I do like the symbol for an armoured train!
