Thanks guys! As said in the OP it´s only strange, and the more when I tell you that its an entry from a friendship´/memorial book on occasion of the First Communion in Western Prussia. I guess the author tried to write in German but was not familiar enough with the language (though all other entries are in Polish, that´s what the owner told me).

You explained the spelling mistakes already and I agree that somebody not too familiar with the language tried to write in German, perhaps had heard that little saying somewhere.

The old saying is something like “Alt und grau (kannst) darfst Du werden, aber nicht frech!”

Hello Hiltraut,

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for solving this mystery! And yes, persons receiving the First Communion are ususally children of age 7-8 here (Austria, Poland,etc.). So this saying makes absolutely sense.
