German handwriting on photo: which front?

Post by Dimitrii » 14 Sep 2019 17:08

Hello all,

Which Front would this be:

Truppenverbandplatz an die ...-Front?

I attached both back and front of photos...

Thank you in advance!

Not absolutely sure, but it reads to me like:

Vor dem Truppenverbandplatz an der Koloniefront.

To me it seems "Adria-Front" = Northern Italy.
I´ve never read nor heard about a Kolonie (Colony)-Front.

Thanks for the very quick answers! Sadly this is the only photo from this "Konvolut" so I do not have more tips... But the very nice weather does suggest Italy.

Hiltraut,

Could the first two letters be an "I" and a "t" and the word maybe just simply "Italien-Front"?

Best regards

Hmmm, I think I would go with Roman's "Adria. Compare the "d" from "..verbandplatz" with the "d" from "Adria", which is pretty much alike.

Armin could also compare the letter "r" in "Truppen" or the "a" in "-bandplatz". I don´t see a reason to doubt "Adria".
