Yugoslavian document signed by a member of Peter II 's governmrnt.

Post by Ian Sayer » 03 Dec 2019 18:21

This is another document I have had for many years which I have not had translated before. It appears to be in Russian or one of the other Cyrillic alphabets. I am not sure what it says but it is countersigned by Yugoslavian Deputy Prime Minister Slobodan Jovanovic. I don't know who the main signatory is but any help in identification would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Hello, Ian

The language is Serbian. The document speaks about King Peter II of Yugoslavia appointing Nikola L. Knežević to be the Consul-Gérant in Beirut, commanding all the shippers and merchants to recognise him as such and obey him, and asking the President of Syria and Lebanon to allow him to perform his duty freely and without interference. Signed by King Peter II and Prime Minister Slobodan Jovanović, London, 31 May 1943.

Cheers,
Ivan
