Sotapäiväkirjoja 15 JR/ War diary of 15th Infantry Regiment of Finnish Army

Post by Igor Mashkin » 04 Nov 2020 00:02

Dear friends! My name is Igor,I'm from Russia. I deal with  battles in the middle of June 1944  on the Karelian Isthmus on VT line near river (now Гладыш) Kuusioja and lake (now Осиновское) Tykläjärvi ( (now modern  Orekhovo village not far from this site). I'm trying to determine the true stories of fallen soldiers who were buried (or not buried?!) here.To understand what's really happend here it's very impotant to read the war diary of  Finnish Army 15 JR (infantry regiment). Not whole diary, naturally, but the pages about  15-18 of June 1944. During this days  III batallion of 15 JR fought with  I and III batallions of  946 RR (rifle regiment) from  142 RD  (rifle division) Red Army (РККА-Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army). In 2007 a small memory sign was erected here. Here some single soldiers graves and one common grave, which was established in 1980 after people collected the  soldiers bones and remnants  on this site.
I'm find the  names of soldiers and officers who were buried in this place according to 1944-year documents and  facts from  their biographies. But there are still many questions  to be answered. Moreover,I don't know nothing about finnish soldiers who were killed or wounded here. And what kind of fights were here: rearguard action, multiple attacks and counterattacks, finnish ambush , etc.?
It's very specific text with military terms. Moreover, some sentence like scribbles and hard to discern.
I would be very grateful for a translation of the pages for June 15-18, 1944, or at least those places where the actions of the III battalion are mentioned!
