Hansgeorg Schulze's diary

#1

Post by Fraulein E. » 27 Jul 2021, 01:04

Hello,

I just discovered this section of the forum, so I repost my demand here regarding the diary of Hansgeorg Schulze.

The Hoover archive sent me the diary of Schulze (begins March 1941- ends July 1941), but I have great difficulty reading/deciphering the content. I understand it's about the military maneuvers of the Leibstandarte during the Balkans campaign and then the Eastern front, but not much more.

I post here the last page of the diary, obviously written by a comrade and concerning, I guess, the death of Schulze, if someone can help me with the translation that will be helpful.

Regards,

E.L

That's how I see the first sentence:

Hansgeorg fiel am
27.Juli 1941 an der
Spitze seines Zuges
vor List durch eine
MG?-Garbe.

It was written by his brother.
This is what I read:

Hansgeorg fiel am 27.Juli 1941 an der Spitze seines Zuges vor List durch eine MG-Garbe. Damit hat ein kurzes aber von Höhepunkten erfülltes stolzes und tapferes Leben seinen Abschluß gefunden.
Ich bin traurig aber stolz auf meinen Bruder.

Hello,

thank you very much for the translation Hohlladung.

The circumstances of his death are clearer now, and I guess, these informations can be trusted since it comes directly from his brother.

I don't want to bother anyone, but out of curiosity, still regarding the Schulze brothers, can anyone read what is written on the back of this picture?

Regards,

E.L

It reads:

Warnemünde 1937

It's a seaside resort at the Baltic Sea near Rostock:
