I need Hungarian speakers help

Post by Musashi » 05 Dec 2003, 18:51

Hallo!
My friends are making an "Ostfront 44-45" mod for Close Combat 3.
The authors want to add Hungarian units and they need also Hungarian battle screams and orders. I seek for anybody who speak Hungarian very well (I mean a person who speak Hungarian every day and who think in Hungarian; some Hungarians who live abroad could have a bad stress or pronounciation - I don't want to offend anybody).
The person would record the phrases with microphone and recorder in Windows. Of course he or they (the voices should be male) will be added to the mod as autor(s) of the voices.
Example of the voices:
help!
objective taken!
target destroyed!
I am hit!
We need total 92 short screams and voices.
Is anybody interested? (If I were you I would do it with pleasure for supporting a mod concerning my country).
We need also informations about Hungarian equipment and uniforms.
Best regards,
Chris

Thank you :) The authors need also informations about Hungarian uniforms in 1944/45. What were Hungarian rifles, heavy machine guns, light machine guns then? Did the Hungarians use for example Mauser rifle or not? Can you give me a a few links to see these weapons? Or you can write me their names and I will find them on my own by google.
Cheers,
Chris

Musashi-San,

For Hungarian uniforms, the only reference in the English language is:

Abbott, Peter; Thomas, Nigel & Chappell, Mike Germany’s Eastern Front Allies 1941-45, Men-at-Arms 131, Osprey Publishing (Oxford, UK, 1982, ISBN 0-85045-475-1), 12-20, 33, 39, plates B, E, F, G, H

It is not in depth study, but fairly accurate and I think more than adequate for a mod project. Also it's not expensive and easy to find! :D

You can also go to the following threads in this forum for some pictures and comments on Hungarian uniforms:

Hungarian Uniforms

Hungarian Uniforms

Hungarian Pictures

You can find a simple rank chart of Hungarian Honved at http://members.shaw.ca/grossdeutschland/ranks.htm.

If you want more in-depth information and is willing to spend some serious money, there are a few good books on this subject in the Hungarian language. I will leave to our good friend Hardi to help you on this for he is located in Hungary!

I hope you find the above to be of some help to you!

Best Regards!

For some good study of Hungarian Armors, you can refer to the following articles:

Baumann, John ‘Hungarian Armor Registration System’, AFV News, Vol. 21 No. 2

Finizio, Giuseppe ‘Toldi, A Brave Little Warrior’, AFV News, Vol. 21 No. 3

––––– ‘Zrínyi: The Hungarian Sturmgeschütz’, AFV News, Vol. 26 No. 2

Francev, Vladimír & Kliment, Charles K. ‘Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) in Hungarian Service’, in Praga LT vz.38, Miloslav Bílý Publishing House (Praha, Česká republika, 2002, ISBN 80-86524-01-9), 62-63

Probst, J. C. M. ‘The Hungarian Turán Tank and Its Variations’, AFV News, January 1977

There are also some very good studies in this forum, especially some very good color profiles and rare front line photos posted by our good firend Milan. Just do a research on "Hungarian Tanks" and you will find them.

Best Regards!

For Hungarian Air Force, the following three books will be more than enough for your project:

Punka, György Hungarian Aces of World War 2, Aircraft of the Aces 50, Osprey Publishing (Oxford, UK, 2002, ISBN 1-84176-436-1)

––––– Hungarian Air Force, Squadron/Signal Publications (Carrollton, TX, USA, 1994)

–––––; Sárhidai, Gyula & Kozlik, Viktor Hungarian Eagles: The Hungarian Air Forces 1920-1945, Hikoki Publications (Aldershot, UK, 1996)

Best Regards!
