I just came across this one emailed to me some time ago. I don't know if it has been posted here before. Sorry, but I cannot remember the exact source.
Max.

Hi, Georg Bochmann seems to be the commander of the Führerschule of the Wirtschafts-und Verwaltungsdienste Arolsen with effect from 10.02.44 until 15.11.44, why was he choosen for this duty and why does he left the school? :? Regards Roland

Bochmann had poor health, he suffered from swamp fever, a sort of malarial disease he caught at Demyansk. I'm only guessing, but the intention may have been to find him a career away from the rigors of the front. However in the desperate situation of late 1944, experienced combat leaders could not be spared for running a school for administrators, so Bochmann returned to combat duty. As a sign of his poor health, Bochmann died before his 60th birthday.

As to those two nice photos above, note that they both are prior to his award of the Oakleaves in May 1943. However, the one in Panzer uniform obviously was taken soon before this, after Bochmann switched to command of II./SS-PR 3 circa April 1943.

Hi Marc,
thanks for the answer! I wonder about his time in Arolsen, and not at one of the "normal" Junkerschulen ....
