Walter Bornscheuer.

Born on 29-9-1914.
Member of the NSDAP(nr. 4.197.076).
Member of the SS(nr. 286.937).
In 1938-1939 he followed lessons at the SS-Junkerschule in Braunschweig.
Got promoted tot SS-Untersturmführer.
Between ?? 1941 and 1-9-1941 he was IIa with SS-Kavallerie-Regiment 2 from the 1. SS-Kavallerie-Brigade.
Got promoted to SS-Hauptsturmführer.
On 20-4-1944 he got promoted to SS-Sturmbannführer.
On 30-4-1944 he got promoted to SS-Sturmbannführer der Waffen-SS.
From 21-4-1944 till 29-4-1944 he was commander from SS-Kavallerie-Regiment 17 with the
8. SS-Kavallerie-Division ‘Florian Geyer’.
From ?? 1944 till October 1944 he was commander from the SS-Kavallerie-Regiment 54 with
22. SS-Freiwilligen-Kavallerie-Division ‘Maria Theresa’.
From ?? 1945 till April 1945 he was IIa with the 37. SS-Freiwilligen-Kavallerie-Division ‘Lützow’.
Received the Ehrendegen des RF SS, the 1939 EK II, the 1939 EK I, the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz and the
Länderauszeichnungen.
Beginning of the sixties he got arrested and put on trial starting 17-2-1964.
It was the so called 'SS-Reiterprocess' before a court at Brunswick and he was accused of being involved
in the killings of thousands of Russian Jews. This in the period from 4-8-1941 till 15-8-1941.
On 20-4-1964 he was acquitted(probably because there was not enough evidence that he was indeed involved in these killing one way or the other).

I'm looking for his birthplace, the dates when he got promoted to Untersturmführer and to Obersturmführer.
Also the exact dates of his command would be nice, now I only have half of it.
And if he's dead already, maybe someone can provide me with his DoD and place of death as well.
This bio was compiled through info found on this forum and through the Personen-Lexikon der NSDAP.

Albert Fassbender.

Born on 30-6-1897 in Saarbeücken.
Since 1925 he was the foster-son of well-known chocolate manufacturer Nelsen Fassbender.
During the first worldwar he went to the front as a volunteer.
Between 1920 and 1924 he was a member of the Freikorps Rossbach which he provided illegaly with guns.
Already at a very early stage he was politically at the extreme right and in this he got supported by his foster-father.
(who sold his own villa 1936 to move into an 'aryanized' villa from a Jewish family that was emigrated to America).
On 1-2-1933 he became a member of the SS(nr. 125.979).
Spring 1933 he also became a member of the NSDAP.
On 9-11-1933 he took part in a reunion of old fighters(de storming of the Feldherrenhalle in 1923)in München.
On 9-11-1934 he got promoted to SS-Untersturmführer.
He was assigned to the SS-Abschnitt III and the SS-Totenkopf-Reiter-Standarte 1.
On 15-9-1938 he got promoted to SS-Obersturmführer.
He got promoted to SS-Hauptsturmführer on 13-9-1939.
On 1-3-1940 he got promoted to SS-Hauptsturmführer d.R.
He became commander of 6. Kompanie with SS-Kavallerie-Regiment 1.
On 20-4-1941 he got promoted to SS-Sturmbannführer.
He became Battalionscommander with SS-Kavallerie-Regiment 1 from 1. SS-Kavallerie-Brigade.
On 24-6-1941 he got appointed as liasion-officer with some Heer-units.
In 1942 he became commander from SS-Kavallerie-Regiment 3 with the SS-Kavallerie-Division.
In 1942 he was also adjudant from S. Dietrich within the SS-Führungshauptamt.
On 20-4-1943 he was transfered to the 13. Waffen-Gebirgs-Division der SS ‘Hanschar’(kroatische Nr. 1).
His promotion to SS-Obersturmbannführer was refused by H. Himmler.
Died in 1964.

I'm looking for his complete DoD and the place of death. I'm also looking for his party-number and I'm interested at what time he became Battalioncommander and from which Battalion. And if somebody knows what his function was with the
'Handschar' Division that would be nice as well.
Bio was compiled through info found on this forum and through an article on the internet.

Hello Phil,

Don't have it, will be for a later time. I now need my money for more important things.
Still, it's in the top 10 of my booklist.

Thanks for Fassbender's partynumber.

When the SS-Kavallerie Division formed, Fassbender became the initial commander of SS-Kavallerie Regiment 3 until succeeded on August 21, 1942, by Hans-Viktor von Zastrow. Transferred to the SS-Führungshauptamt on December 1, 1942, Fassbender served in Inspektion 3 (Cavalry and Horse Drawn Transportation) of Amtsgruppe C as a staff officer, under Hermann Fegelein. Returning to an operational unit, during September 20, 1943, to November 14, 1944, Fassbender commanded the supply section of the 13.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS “Handschar” (kroatische Nr.1). Next briefly in reserve, his last confirmed wartime post was with Auffrischungsstab (Unit Refurbishment Staff) 16 starting on December 11, 1944.

Bornscheuer:

Promoted to Obersturmführer on January 30, 1941, on April 1 that year he became regimental adjutant for SS-Kavallerie Regiment 2. Promoted to Hauptsturmführer on November 9, 1941, in late May 1942 he was posted as the first Divisionsadjutant for the SS-Kavallerie Division, his brief interim command of SS-Kavallerie Regiment 3 as von Zastrow’s successor (Zastrow KIA) lasting to January 1, 1943, having previously taken leadership as successor to Hauptsturmführer Rudolf Bachmann as Schwadron Chef of the 6./SS-Kavallerie Regiment 3 since late August 1942. In 1943 Bornscheuer became Regimentsadjutant of SS-Kavallerie Regiment 17 before appointed regimental Hauptmann beim Stab. Wounded in January 1944, he returned to duty when promoted to Sturmbannführer on April 20, 1944, with the Aufstellungsstab of “Maria Theresia” as Divisionsadjutant.
