Technische SS und Polizei-Akademie

#1

Post by K.Kocjancic » 11 May 2007, 17:52

Were there only 2 (Berlin-Zehlendorf and Brünn)?

What were they teaching and how long it lasted?

Regards,
Klemen

In my list of SS training establishments and schools, Bln-Zehl. and Brünn are the only two listed as "Akademie". The Berlin establishment was probably something similar under Prussian Polizei; the one in Brünn, maybe something similar from a CZ point of use.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply.
What was exactly the role of these Akademien? I mena, what was their "teaching" role?

Steve, the Prussian Polizei Institut relocated to 1 Schlosstraße in 1927, providing university level courses in criminal sciences, law, psychology and police development to Prussian police officials, especially the Kripo. In April 1937, the school was re-designated the Führerschule der Sicherheitspolizei.

Joe
The list I have has the Technische SS und Polizeiakademie and the Führerschule Sipo/SD separately.
The TSSuPA is clumped together with the Kraftfahrersatzabteilung der Polizei für Technik und Verkehr, and the Polizeischule für Auslandsverwendung Berlin-Oranienburg. (The English translation adds "Schupo" to the last mentioned and also mentions "Kdr. Prof. Dr. Gerlaff Gen.maj.d.p.BF" !).

The Führerschule Sipo/SD is way down the page. I do not imagine the TSSuPA is a Prussian predecessor of the Führerschule.

Steve, I did not imply the TSSuPA was connected in anyway to a previous Prussian establishment. I was elaborating on your comment "The Berlin establishment was probably something similar under Prussian Polizei;". I misunderstood your comment to mean the TSSuPA was previously the Prussian (police) Institute and I wanted to point out its transformation into the Fuhrerschule.

Jürgen Huck in his chapter in "Zur Geschichte der Ordnungspolizei 1936-1945" notes the Berlin location of the TSSuPA was relocated to barracks building in Berlin-Zehlendorf in mid-January 1943. He writes that it was previously located at Golßener Str. 4 Berlin SW 29 as the Technische Polizeischule as listed in the 1941 Berlin directory. It was again relocated to Brünn in 1943 because of serious bombing damage. A branch was set up in Schonwalde (Kr. Niederbarnim) in February 1945.

So, was there only one TSSuPA, first in Berlin and then Brünn? And was it simply the arsenal? There was a Kriminaltechnische Institut d. SIPO, but it was a research department within the RKPA.

Interesting debates guys.
If this might be of interest, I own a document of a Polizei NCO, who served during 1942 in the Feldgendarmerie attached to SS units, and in mid.1944 worked in SS und Polizei Technische Akademie.
On a document send to WMA Reinickendorf, Berlin, dated June 1944, we writes that "his actual place (Wohnsitz), is in Schillerstraße 85 in Brünn (SS und Polizei Technische Akademie)"

My interest would be which was his role there..... what kind of academy was it...

There are no Akademie listings in the 1943/1944 Dienststellenverzeichnis listings of Schulen d. SIPO und SD. Are these research facilities/service establishments rather than true educational establishments?

The Technische SS und Polizeiakademie was under Orpo not SIPO SD. Headed by SS-Brif. und Gen.Major der Polizei Prof. Dr Ing. Wilhelm Gerloff from 1941 to 1944. Gerloff was too Amtschef in Hauptamt Orpo.
Best regards

That’s why it was listed in “Zur Geschichte....”.
