Karl Schönwetter . Men look similar too although this is a more youthful comparison at bottom.

Museum also has the two men’s photographs in their display (Schmitt, his successor Schönwetter, and even the dog)

Still confused over your clue about Schmitt’s successor and would be grateful for an explanation.

I think what I read is that v. t. ‘S subject was like a deputy or adjutant to Schmitt or “successor” commandant at Malines transit camp and not the other one but it’s foreign language so not sure.
Schmitt was in charge in more than one place.
Oh well , I went down the wrong track on this one.

Hi v. t. You want to try another since nobody got the last, suspenseful quiz entry? (On the edge of our seats). Or would you prefer opening the floor?
Your call. You went awol.

Still confused over your clue about Schmitt’s successor and would be grateful for an explanation.
Translate from the source; "The Dossin assembly camp has two phases: from July 27, 1942 to March 1943: the terror regime of the SS Schmitt and then from March 1943 to September 4, 1944 (the liberation of the camp): the apparent moderation under Johannes Gerhard Frank".

Well I try another character ;

As von Thoma has gone missing in action, anyone can post a new ID question. Maybe he will tell us who his photo is if/when he returns.
Max.
