Not much, but Kurt Rybka received the Finnisches Freiheitskreuz IV. Klasse on 1 December 1941 while an SS-Untersturmführer. This leads me to believe he was assigned to "Nord" earlier in the year and perhaps took part in Operation “Polarfuchs.”

Rybka ceased to be CO of SS-Fallschirmjäger-Btl 500 in June 1944. He died in 1959. His RK recommendation was turned down but he did receive the EBS for Drvar.

It's too bad that there was no data available of the other assignments after Kurt Rybka left his C.O. command of SS-Fallschirmjaeger-Btl 500. I think much of his personal record was lost during the War.

Does anyone know how Rybka died? I see he was 42 years old at the time of his death. Also, can anyone direct me where I can buy the short biography written by Sellner about Rybka? I tried ebay, Abebooks, and Amazon with no luck.
