SS-Ustuf. Cora (phonetical)

Post by Harro » 27 Feb 2024 11:42

I went through the C and K chapters of John Moore's Führerliste and through the G chapter just to be sure but did not find anyone remotely resembling the SS-Untersturmführer these Belgian interrogators phonetically wrote down as "Cora".
Supposedly with SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 LSSAH in December 1944.

Who can help?

Hello Harro,

have you checked
Kuhagen Herbert, SS-Ustuf. Born 09.03.23 SS# 495959 Pz.GR.1 12.44 ‡ 23.12.44

Depending on how the name is pronounced and the last letters are swallowed, it could be done with a little imagination.

Regards,
andernach

Thanks "andernach", that certainly makes sense. However, the officer "Cora" replaced the wounded Zelinka on the 24th of December. This cannot be Kuhagen if he went missing on the 23rd.

Hello Harro,
OK, officers of the 9./SS-PzGrenRgt 1 after 24th of December.
- SS-Ostuf Werner Gentsch signed some documents "im Auftrag" in the first days of January 1945
- SS-Ustuf. Ulrich Langanke (Kompanieführer) signed documents from mid-January to mid-February 1945
- SS-Ustuf. Lang (Hubert ?) (Kompanieführer in Vertretung) signed documents in the last days of January 1945
- SS-Ostuf. Alfred Haft signed documents in the first days of March 1945 "im Auftrag"
- SS-Ostuf Werner Gentsch signed some documents "im Auftrag" mid-March 1945

Unfortunately, none sounds like "Cora".

Regards,
andernach

- Flak-Zug/SS-Panzer-Regiment 12

Thanks, yes I've drawn a blank. The highest ranking platoon leader in the company in December 1944 was Franz Kroißl but its also a big leap from "Cora" to "Kroißl" especially since Kroißl was mentioned earlier in the report (phonetically written as Kroesel).
