Project Führerliste Allg.-SS & Waffen-SS

Post by Georg_S » 02 Apr 2024 23:49

Hello

In this thread I will try to stick to questions that I might have for our project. I will also post advices for other researchers and all that happens in our progress.

First as we also asked on our FB page , is if there anyone who knows a archive or researchers we can reach out to that might can help us regarding SS-Officers that came from Italy?

Best regards
Georg

Georg,
Do you mean SS officers born in Italy? and presumably the Italian Tirol now Austrian Tirol.
Places such Merano/Meran for example.

Hello Steve,

The officers from Tirol is pretty well covered in the SSO´s and RuSHA as they were considered "Volksdeutsch" what I am looking for is the "real" italians . I have been searching for an archive in Italy but without any success. :|

As with Estonians they have a marvelous archive online, where you can find a lot of info. And with thte guys from Latvija their archive are very halpful, and they have a marvelous passport archive where I can get a lot of info from, and then the ITS in Arolsen, :) They are good on most foreign officers of the Waffen-SS :)

Best regards
Georg

Thanks, Georg - maybe a sticky with helpful links would be an idea - though links off course can be quickly outdated, tried one of my old favorites today, and it was gone ...

I have thought about that, but as you say many links are soon to be dead. And there is a ton of work to keep such link page Alive. I think I pass on that.
