Hello John,

On the Verluste-1.11.1941---1a.jpg I saw the name Wilhelm Schneider, SS-Ustuf and Zugführer.
I did found Wilhelm Friedrich Schneider, died on 13-10-1941.
And I did found Wilhelm Friedrich Schneider, died on 19-10-1941.

I presume it's the second Schneider, but who could be the other W. F. Schneider who died on 13-10-41??
He was born on 16-8-1909.

Greetings,
Mike

Mike - While these appear to be "Daily Reports" they may cover a period of days or weeks and sometimes the actual period covered is specified. The Wilhelm Schneider mentioned in the report was the one born on 16.8.1909.

Here is the report from December 12, 1941

Hello John,

Thank you very much, as usual, for the fine explanation. In the meantime I also figured this one out myself because of the search I did for several officers already on the Volkenbund-website. So who could be the W. F. Schneider who died on 19-10-1941?????(and born on 22-10-1920). Do you know this person???

And the SS-Hstuf Otto Wielk mentioned in the Verluste 1.jpg is not on the Volkenbund-site. The came up with an Otto Wielk, born on 28-12-1901 and died on 24-3-1945. I had an Otto Wielk in my files, born on 26-3-1909 and kIA in March 1942, and his description was that he was CO from 9. Kompanie under Wisch within LSSAH. So this had to be the O. Wielk mentioned in the first casualty-report you posted here.
Do you know, by any chance, who the other O. Wielk could have been???

Thank you once more,
Mike

Hello John,

On your Verluste 2a.jpg I've found SS-Ustuf Karl Schmitt, Zugf. Pi. Btl. with LSSAH. It says
'verungelückt' and after my search on the Volkenbund I came up with the following K. Schmitts
and one of them should be our man. I was hoping you could tell me which one he is:
Karl Schmitt: Born 23-4-1910, Dead 1-10-1941.
Karl Ludwig Schmitt: Born 11-5-1911, Dead 12-10-1941.
Karl Schmitt: Born 21-10-1917, Dead 5-10-1941.
Karl Schmitt: Born 7-8-1904, Dead 17-10-1941.
Karl Georg Heinz Schmitt: Born 23-12-1923, Dead 2-10-1941.

Thank you,
Mike

Dear John,

On your Verluste 2a.jpg I've found SS-Ustuf Heinrich Anderlik.
Is he maybe identical to Anton Anderlik, SS-nr. 420.700), who was in 1943 CO from 9.(MG)Kompanie with II. Btl. from
SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 with LSSAH and who SS-Ostuf at that time????

Thanks,
Mike

Mike - Don't expect to find every Waffen-SS death listed on the VDK Web site, because many are not listed. Also, the VDK Web site lists deaths from all branches of the German military, civilian casualties and forced laborers. I don't have specific information about the non-SS persons. The ranks listed on the VDK Web site can help you with matches, however, the ranks are not always correct and sometimes an Army or Police rank is given for SS personnel. It can take a lot of research to match these names and the VDK Web site is only one of many resources such as DALs, post-war literature, Kriegstagbuchs, promotion orders and other period documents. There were multiple W-SS officers with the name of Anlerlik and Anton was not in the LSSAH. Also, sometimes names are mis-spelled in either the casualty reports or VDK Web site. Schmitt could also be Schmidt, Schmid or Schmitz, but in this case the one on the casualty report is the one born on 7.8.04 and he is even listed on the VDK Web site as an Untersturmführer.
