The post above lists SS-Hstuf Max Hurnaus, which is odd for this topic.
According to the Völkische Beobachter, 13 Feb 1944, “Als fanatischer Nationalsozialist fiel im stillen Einsatz für die Sicherung des Reiches am 27,Januar 1944” SS-Hstuf KK Max Hurnaus. His service post at this time appears to be Stapostelle Linz.
I do not think "stillen Einsatz" means he served in the Waffen-SS, and John Moore's listing does not mention him. Hurnaus died in Attnang.
He does not have a SSO.

Halberstadt and Herold were also not Waffen-SS.
see (for Herold) viewtopic.php?f=38&t=102959&hilit=Franz+Herold

Sander:
The obituary in RSHA BBL 42/44 says he was a SS-Ostuf.; John Moore's listing says he was a SS-Ustuf.; yet the VB (?) article above shows SS-Hscha. (he was KIA with 12.SS-Div.).
John Moore says KIA 7 June 1944, the article the night of 9/10 June 1944.
Anyone unravel the confusion here? And what office he serve in RSHA?
