Thanks Phil. Quite a few notable persons died during the first year of the war in the East. It is interesting to note that the July 1942 casualty report gave totals of just over 15,000 menbers of the Waffen-SS dead, 2,000 MIA and 46,000 wounded. That is a rather heavy toll to be inflicted by an enemy described by the German politicians as being sub-human and miltarily incompetent.
