SS-Stubf. Martinus van Aken, born 16.02.1905 in Oudenbosch Netherlands.
Served with SS.Art.Rgt.8 "Florian Geyer" as a horsedoctor.

I may have confused Bob Reiner Akkermann with Reinier Akkerman who was a Dutch SS-officer.

I have van Aken in 1944 as Sturmbannführer and VIc of SS-ArtRgt. 8, further fate unknown, does not appear in the listing of FG officers KIA in Budapest.

Mehner lists him in the FG-Stellenbesetzung of FG/ IVc for 1941 as Hauptmann. A transfered Heer officer?

Martin van Aken is mentioned in an officer roster from the SS-Kavallerie-Division that ended on 20 December 1942. John Moore has posted this roster in the Registers of Waffen-SS Officers from KTBs.

There you will find SS-Hstuf Marin van Aken, mentioned as Vet. with the A.R.(which most likely stands for Artillery-Regiment)from the SS-Kavallerie-Division.

I recently learned that Martin van Aken died on 6.4.1973 in Sande, Germany. He had been a Russian POW in 1949.
I believe that Nico Heitman was the source of that information which has been highly reliable in the past.

Old thread. But I need to ask, I have the last months been working very hard with the first volume of "Führer der SS u Waffen-SS" (A) We are very close to finish this. But there are still some photos I miss, especially foreign volonteers. The Estonians volonteers have been a piece of cake as their Archives works tremendous, the same with Latvijan Archive which recently have opened their archive for online orders (plus a great help from VJK).

Thanks I have all of them but with much more info. What I still miss about those three officers is a photo , they dont have a RuSHA file so another archive or relative is the only source i can think about
