I have a Josef Pumm, born 29.7.1921 in Naarn who got the EK I on 10.12.1943, serving at Stab of II./DFJohn P. Moore wrote:Mark - Thanks for your comments which raise some good points. Spelling errors on period documents will always be a source of problems. Earlier this week fellow researcher in Spain pointed out to me that I had both a Josef Prumm and a Josef Pumm from Rgt. "Der Führer" listed in "Führerliste". Pumm was the actual name, despite Prumm being found in a period document. Then there are conflicts between period documents with what is found in books such as Weideringer's "Das Reich" series where he says in his Volume IV, that Ostuf. Walter Ehrmann (b. 5.09.19, SS 401350) died on 28.09.43 as Chef 2./Aufkl.Abt. 2, but multiple casualty reports found in his Personalakte confirm that he died on died on 9.10.43 as Chef 3./Aufkl.Abt. 2. There is over a week's difference and the companies are different, plus I believe that Weidinger was commanding the AA "DR" at the time (according to period documents). I will leave it up to you to elaborate on the differences in postings between period documents and field conditions as this is something that researchers need to understand.
