Re: SS-Begleitkommando" Der Führer"
A very nice picture of two NCO of the SS-Begleitkommando from he Hoffmann collection. I guess the photo is taken by Walter Frentz.
Both NCO's are standing in the open doors of the main entrance of the "Kasino" or Officer's Mess of FHQu "Wehrwolf". The photo is taken on 20. August 1942.
The "Kasino" (Haus Nr 10 in Sperrkreis 1) was the central gathering place for meetings and meals. Hitler took his meals with his Staff in this Mess until 8. September 1942, the day after the clash with Gen. Jodl, coming back from a visit tot the HQ's of Heeresgruppe A in Stalino (GFM List). From 8. September 1942 on, the Führer took his meals in the privacy of his own house (Haus Nr 11 in Sperrkreis 1).
Can anyone identify these NCO's please?
Martin

Re:
I take this person is SS-Hauptsturmführer Hermann Bornholdt.
Führerliste has this:
Bornholdt, Hermann
SS-Hstuf. 30.03.08 10 992 I.SS-Pz.Korps 06.44
SS-Ostuf. Böningstedt 1.SS-Pz.Div. 01.42
I've got a note on him naming him as "Begleitschutz" for Fegelein - unfortunately the source has fallen out. Can anyone add?
Best
