SS-Hauptsturmführer Günther Schwägermann
Hello,
Who knows what happened to the SS-Hauptsturmführer Günter (or Günther) Schwägermann after the war ?
You remember that Schwägermann was the Goebbels' personal Adjudant since 1940 until May 1, 1945. He lived the last hours in the bunker and was able to escape from Berlin to the west.
I just know Günter August Wilhem Schwägermann was born on July 24, 1915 in Germany. I would like to know if he's still alive, or the date of his death.
It would great if someone could show a picture of Günter Schwägermann.
Thank you very much and sorry for my poor "english".
R.S.

Thanks
Thank you very very very much for this picture Helly Angel. It's the first one I see.
Would you know what Schwägermann did after the war ? Do you know when he died ? He lived the last days in the Führer Bunker but historians or writers didn't tell anything about him in their books (the books I read about this subject).
Thanks again,
R.S.

Well my english is terrible but he survived to the Bunker, Goebbels asked him that he must shoot inhis head (Goebbels´s head) after the suicide operation to care that he was dead but Günther couldn´t because he felt good feeling for Goebbels, he ordered this to other SS NCO. After the war he was interrogated by Colonel Michael Musmanno, I have the book but in spanish let me read and make the translation.

Necropost: Does anyone know if Günther Schwägermann is still alive, and if so, has he written any memoirs?

Re: SS Hauptsturmführer Günther Schwägermann
Could the the SS-Ustuf. seated next to Magda Goebbels in this photo be Günther Schwägermann? For comparison, a photo of GS in Allied captivity.
Photo originally appeared in a November 1943 issue of Signal.
Also present, with DKiG at left, is Hans Sieronski (1. Komp., Aufkl.Abt. LSSAH) and Kurt Meyer (second from right).
Best wishes,
~ Mike

I can't recall where I heard this or read this but didn't Schwägermann lose an eye in combat and quite often wore an eye-patch. Having stated that I concur with Mike's very recent post that the Untersturmführer next to Frau Goebbels is Günther Schwägermann.

Not Schwägermann. He had the Iron Cross and wound badge and the man above does not nor is the hairline the same as Schwägermann.
He is a 1943 photo of him showing his IC also he was already an SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer by this time.

Re: SS-Hauptsturmführer Günther Schwägermann
I'm guessing that the SS-Ustuf next to Magda Goebbels is a Reserve Officer in the LSSAH and holds a higher rank in the Allgemeine-SS or NSDAP? A typical SS-Ustuf would not be sitting with so much swagger next to such a prominent Third Reich personality. Also, he holds the KVK I without Swords, where as W-SS front line personnel would receive the version with Swords.
Re: SS-Hauptsturmführer Günther Schwägermann
Good evening
There aren't that many photos of Schwägermann to be found.
Nevertheless, this week I found a 1944 press photo wherein I believe Schwägermann is standing behind Goebbels.
I combined the Musmanno and Mark Costa photos and a digital cut out of the press photo.
The quality of the photos is what it is, but I think the "ears" are the key to determine that Schwägermann is the man in the press photo.
Opinions are welcome
Thanks

Re: SS-Hauptsturmführer Günther Schwägermann
Thanks Mark
Schwägermann had a little "fold" in his left ear.
Strange how a photo angle can change the appearance of an individual.
Peter
PS: I wrote "had", but he might be still alive!
