By the way, Gille landed exactly at 11.45am at Kowel with Fieseler Storch DM+BE, the order is signed by Oberleutnant Schubert, Kdo-Führer.

Another order included is dated 21th February 1944 by 3./FlgGeschw. z.b.V.7/ Kampfgruppe v.d.Bach) to fly from Minsk via Baranowiece, Brest-Litowsk to Kowel, on Board till Brest-Litowsk was a Stubaf. Hofer. Antoher man from v.d.Bach's staff?

He means there was an SS-Stubaf Hofer on the aircraft throughout the whole trip from Minsk via Baranowiece, Brest-Litowsk to Kowel, and was he part of v.d.Bach's staff.

If so, if you ever get bored of it, I'll be happy to take it off your hands. :)

He was there in May too...

...as the commander. Or does "I.V." mean anything other - like "in Vertretung" (substitute)?

I think I've read something about Lombard being the commander of Kowel. I'll see if I can find it again.

Here's another one with "I.V." - so I guess it means stand-in or substitute.

Hello,

when Lombard sold his items he wrote some letters regarding them. This is the one regarding his BKA (cropped and downsized to fit the 700 pixels limit). I will change the picture to a better scanned I have at home.

Thanks!!

I'll post it in the BKA thread, because there is no trace at all of that in his personal file.
Do you know any official report about its awarding to Mr.Lombard?
Because is very unlikely to be awarded in January 1944 with a badge, which request 50 days of fights (silver), introduced in January 1944...
It would be very important for us.

Thanks

Sorry, I have no official report regarding this.

I don't know where the date January 1944 is coming from - do you have any reference to that?
After reading his letters I've come to the conclusion that he was awarded the BKA in February 1945, at the same occasion as his promotion to Brigadeführer .

Stefan

Don't forget Drapeau, the award qualification dates could be back-dated into 1943, so there would likely be enough dates for Lombard to qualify for the BKA. Without my notes in front of me I cannot recall the exact date, but its mentioned in one of the main BKA threads, I posted it there.
