Danke Harro, yes, Volksbund is my source along with what I have gathered over the years---that's why I always conferred with you to see if the match up is right or not, I rarely rely on Volksbund for the final rank on date of death, as they many a times put the wrong rank, such as Uscha. instead of Ustuf or simply have Heer ranks.

I found all of the soldiers in Volksbund that died July 1943 except for Konrad Barkofski

I suspect that Volksbund got his name first mixed up with Hans Ludwig Fritzsch and listed Heinz Ludwig instead of Ernst. But that's just my speculation.

In this case the clerk from the AA LAH miswrote the name of SS-Rottenführer Konrad Barkowski, listed by the Voksbund as born in Heidekrug on 20.06.1918 and KIA near Kalinina near Belgorod on 06.07.1943 and listed in various earlier lists from the AA LAH as Barkowski.

BTW, "Heidekrug" as place of birth is tricky. as far as I can see google and google maps only give hotels and Gasthöfen with that name, plus some Heidekrugstraßen, but no town, village or hamlet by that name.

I'll go through my files for more info on Wurzer.
