Ostubaf. Wilhelm Pfannenstiel

Hi, I've been researching on Kurt Gerstein for quite a number of years but can't seem to get hold of any photographs of Obersturmbannführer Wilhelm Pfannenstiel (attached to the Waffen-SS sanitation department), nor of Baron Göran Von Otter (secretary to the swedish legation in Berlin, circa 1942-43). Does anyone have any idea where I should turn ? Thanks in advance...

Hi Phil;
Thank you ever so much, really. I'd been looking for a picture of Pfannenstiel for years. Could I sollicit you a little bit further ? I'm researching on Kurt Gerstein and trying to put together as many documents as possible. Although he isn't (strictly speaking) part of axis history, would you have any idea where to search for a picture of Baron Göran Von Otter, the swedish diplomat whom Kurt Gerstein met on the train from Warsaw to Berlin, in August 1942. I know he was interviewed on TV in Paris, sometime in 1984 or 86, but pictures seem unavailable. A last thing, know of any photographs relating to the Belzec trial ? Hope I'm not pushing it, and thank you again.

That's my photo I posted, but couldn't find it I think because I subsequently deleted it.

Sorry these areas are outside my area of expertise perhaps some of our Swedish friends could help. Re the Belzec trial have you tried the search function

Ian, I don't know what to say ! Fantastic ! Thank-you ever so much. I guess this was taken at (one of) his arrests. Do you have any idea when ? He doesn't look like the one in Phil's post though. But I guess yours is the one.
Thank you again
Best regards
Eddy

Eddy,

I don't know if it's the right man but there can't have been many people with the name and he is listed as DR so...
The photo was probably taken at Nuremberg c 1946 and he was either going to be a defendant or a witness in one of the subsidiary trials. That's about all I can tell you I'm afraid.

Best

Ian

Hi Ian;
I think that it's the Pfannenstiel I'm looking for alright (the one that traveled to Belzec with Kurt Gerstein). In his report, Gerstein refers to him as 'Professor Dr. Pfannenstiel', and the data available on him says that he was Professor of Hygiene at the Marburg Faculty. There is another Pfannenstiel in the SS (can't remember in which thread but it's in the AHF - maybe in an SS battalion list...), but with another Christian name. So 'Wilhelm' and 'Professor' MUST be the guy I'm looking for.

Thanks a million again !
Eddy
