Phil I think these are the men you are looking for.

SS-Hstuf. Lorenz Baier
DOB: 21.12.1911
SS-Nr.: 53 093

SS-Ustuf. Friedrich Zipp
DOB: 4.9.1917
SS-Nr.: 286 585

SS-Ostuf. Guenter Hilgenstock
DOB: 19.8.1914
SS-Nr.: 293 720

SS-Ustuf. Hubert Kersten
DOB: 25.5.1917
SS-Nr.: 270 873

SS-Ostuf. Werner Zorn
DOB: 2.1.1915
SS-Nr.: 310 348

SS-Ostuf. Heinz Pfitzner
DOB: 24.3.1914
SS-Nr.: 265 691

In John Moore's Fuehrer List there is a Hans Deicke with SS-Nr. 71 405 as a SS-Ustuf.in the 3.SS-Pz.Div. "Totenkopf" May 1944. With this low SS-Nr. he could be the H.Feldw. in the picture (spring 1940).
Just a guess.

Regards Frank

In Wolfgang Vopersal book bd I is there also a photo of Zipp, Hilgenstock and Kersten, in that photo they have the flag of Heimwehr Danzig
in front of the Btl. when they are entering the KL Dachau (where the SS-TK.Div was establ. in okt 1939).

Best regards,

Georg

Any more info on Werner Zorn? He was a former Heer officer.

Hi Jan-Hendrik,

The booklet by Michaelis is a classic of post war W-SS glorification and historical distortion.

You would hardly be aware from it that the very short-lived SS-Heimwehr Danzig was only a tiny fraction (about 10%) of the city's forces or that it failed in every independent operational task set it in its brief existence.

Given that, why on earth have we any publication on it at all, let alone a whitewash such as this?

Cheers,

Sid.

Sid, I don't think I need your advisory on books.....

I am interested in the biography of Werner Zorn, former Heer officer that changed to WSS / Totenkopf...

Hi Jan-Hendrik,

As you are not defending the booklet, you might be right.

Sid.
