Thanks for posting photo of Globocnik's "Höfle"...this man is somewhat of a shadow without a book /written biography. I've read snippets that he and "Globus" (as Himmler affectionately called Odilo Globocnik) were quite close, getting drunk together between "operations"...another of Globocnik's colleagues and drinking buddies was Ernst (?) Lerch, who apparently survived the war....he was another murky figure from "Operation Reinhard".

Rudolf Höss in his memoirs mentions in his appendix on Globocnik that he (Globocnik) and his staff were notorious for their consumption of large quantities of alcohol. Several books mention Globocnik as an "alcoholic" and even a "drunken lout"....I'm sometimes curious if alcoholism was a by-product of the Final Solution or if it even propelled it further, making many of these men callous and indifferent to what they were doing. A book could actually be written on the subject since many Nazi big-wigs were heavy drinkers or outright alcoholics (Dr. Robert Ley and Paul Blobel come to mind) but I digress here.

heavy drinkers can be found in others branches of SS less exposed to final solution or Einsatzgruppen, also in Wehrmacht and ...any army at all levels.
there is in files of seniors SS-leaders in peace time a number of admonition for drinking excess.
Alcool is an addiction.
therefore the executionners of mass killing in Russia sometimes drink during action. That was in this case not addiction but necessity to sustain moral.

Not accurate. See (in french): Ajenstat, Charles et al Hermann Höfle : l'autrichien artisan de la Shoah en Pologne (2006).

I think that it is possible that the two Hermann Höfles may have been confused in the historical accounts. On this site there are photographs of Hermann Höfle who reportedly committed suicide in 1962, which are said to be photographs of the Hermann Höfle who was executed in 1947. If you read the book, 'Strawberries with the Führer', by Helga Tiscenko, who is the daughter of Hermann Höfle who was executed in 1947, you will see the photograph of her father.

The book has just been made into a film:

An interesting Lebenslauf for Hermann Höfle whichs shows he was not Sipo-SD; just a Fachführer from the Allgemeine-SS. Unlike his mate Ernst Lerch who was an SD officer. And Christian Wirth from the Kripo.
Together with the men from T4 running the "Aktion Reinhardt" mass killing operation in Lublin shows a cross of servicemen from various SS organizations operating outside RSHA control, unlike the Einsatzgruppen.
