A well known face from the early days. One of the first LSSAH members.

Re: SS ID Quiz
No one can get this?? Another clue then -- he was one of the first SS-Begleitkommando men.

Mikko:
You are correct. I was getting worried that no one would get this. Your turn.

Re: SS ID Quiz
Thanks Mark! Who is this SS officer who held a comparatively unique position?

Re: SS ID Quiz
I'd say it's Mr Rauter!

Re: SS ID Quiz
No, sorry. A hint: he was a medical doctor.
Re: SS ID Quiz
Apparently this is very difficult. Another hint: Wiking division.
Re: SS ID Quiz
Not Mengele, definitely. This doctor joined III./SS-Rgt. "Nordland" as SS-Ostuf. in September 1942 and earned EK II within just few months. He served until July 1943.
Re: SS ID Quiz
Hello Mikko,
it is already 2 weeks since you posted your photo and no one came with correct answer...I think that we should move forward.
Thanks. Best regards,
Michal

Re: SS ID Quiz
You're right Michal, let's move onwards.
It's SS-Ostuf. Dr. Olli Somersalo (1915-1963) who was assigned to III./Nordland as a battalion medical officer. His posting was in many ways exceptional as he was also involved in hospital treatment of members of the Finnish battalion and its overall coordination and liaison. Prior to his posting to WSS service, he was involved in shock trauma research in the Finnish army.

Re: SS ID Quiz
A very obscure character...no wonder nobody knew him (I for one have never heard of him). I think we have to be a bit realistic and post people who have had some exposure!
Mikko, do you want to try someone else?
Max.

Re: SS ID Quiz
I don't have any good ID candidates at the moment so anyone can have a turn.
