SS ID Quiz
Re: SS ID Quiz
Franz Ziereis of Mauthausen
Re: SS ID Quiz
It happens - you are really good at the quiz so I was shocked you missed this one. You knew it, you just typed the wrong name.
Re: SS ID Quiz
No, is because I saw this week 'Sophie's Choice'......

Re: SS ID Quiz
Ah hah , Ziereis became a “totally alike” for Höss (lol). I haven’t seen that thread in long time. I’ll have to see what’s been added.
Btw- Styron’s novel was so much better than
the film.

Re: SS ID Quiz
I have to correct Jan here. Ziereis was not in a US hospital. He was captured (from memory at Gusen) and received an abdominal gunshot wound at the time of capture. The Americans refused him help other than first aid and interrogated him at the camp where he lay bleeding and dying. Ziereis provided them with a statement which he was able to sign after they had typewritten his words. He lay for hours in pain before finally succumbing to his wound. I believe the only medical attention he was allowed was by a US medical orderly.

Re: SS ID Quiz
Thank you very much Max. I have read, that he was at 131st Evac Hospital in Gusen, but was curious that under such circumstances he made a statement and that on the photo he is surrounded by several persons who are not doctors ... .Max Williams wrote: ↑14 Sep 2019, 11:27I have to correct Jan here. Re: SS ID Quiz
Correct to my memory as well, after his death his naken body was hanged to the barbed wire around Gusen with swastikas painted on the body.Max Williams wrote: ↑14 Sep 2019, 11:27I have to correct Jan here.
