Thanks for the correction Max. Will Prützmann feature in one of your future books, I am intrested in the man but he seems something of an enigma.

Thanks :)

The unique picture of SS-Brigadeführer und Generalmajor der Polizei Dr. med. Max THOMAS [BdS Ukraine] and of SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Polizei Hans-Adolf PRÜUTZMANN [Kyiv, 1942].

It's not a unique photo. It's quite well known and has been published in a few books.

Max, it's unique because it's the only known photo showing THOMAS and PRÜTZMANN together.

Has anyone any other images of Prützmann, maybe after he was captured?

Now that would be interesting, the period between his capture and suicide seem to lack documentation/photography. It seems there is virtually nothing in the London National Archives or Imperial War Museum. Records concerning his suicide seem to elude even the most patient researchers.

He has a rather lengthy illustrated biography in the recently released below along with the other 10 independent higher ranking GC holders (Wolff, Jeckeln, von dem Bach, Rösener, Harster, etc)

Hi Mark, I have had a look on Bender-Publishing and I could not see this new edition advertised, is it to be released in the near future? I look forward to reading your biographies on Prutzmann and Jeckeln.

Thank you.

Trepasser:

Go back to Bender's site main page and click on "ORDER". You will see Mark's new book there for ordering. The site does not yet have the announcement but you are able to buy it already. I purchased mine the other day.

Here is not bad photo of Prützmann with Lorenz in the back seat of the car. Who is the SS officer next to them? Anyone famous?

Was Hans-Adolf Prützmann SS-Oberstgruppenführer only by appointment, or was his effective rank ?
Thanks for your answer.

The promotion to SS-Oberst-Gruppenführer has never been confirmed. This came about from an interview that both Karl Wolff and Julius Schaub gave in the 1950's. Wolff always claimed that he and Prützmann were promoted to the rank effective April 20, 1945. At first glance this would seem correct as many SS promotions were announced on Hitler's birthday --ie April 20th. In the 1950's Julius Schaub gave an interview where he recalled an April 1945 meeting between Wolff and Hitler. Schaub stated that upon greeting Wolff, Hitler "congratulated Wolff upon his recent promotion". This seems to give credence to Wolff's claims. But without any other documentation neither promotion for Wolff or Prützmann is nothing more than speculation.
