Can anybody add to/amend/confirm the following details regarding the career of SS-Ostuf. Friedrich (Fritz) Oertli, please?

Born: May 18, 1906 (Bamberg)
SS NO: 83673
NSDAP NO: 3211013
SS-Ustuf.: ?
SS-Ostuf.: ?
SS-Hstuf.: ?
1939-41: Lagerverwaltung, Dachau
Dates unknown: Leiter der Lagerverwaltung, KL Moringen
1942-43: SS-Totenkopf-Division
24.12.43 - 1944: IVa, SS-Flak-Abt.17 "Götz von Berlichingen"
1944-45: SS-WVHA

I would particularly like to know when he was commissioned and his promotion dates. Furthermore, can anyone confirm his posting at KL Moringen, and what was his role within the Totenkopf-Division, please. Thanks

Hi Shane..my database has him as IVa KL Dachau 1939-41 and Sonderlager Stutthof 1941. IVa of the Feldersatz Battalion of the 14.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS (ukrainishe Nr.1) in 1944 prior to transfer to WVHA..Don't know his position in Totenkopf, but my guess is that he was a battalion IVa. Don't have promo dates.

Many thanks TH. Every little helps. Would like to find out if he was at Moringen and, if so, the dates. According to one website, Moringen developed into 3 distinct camps. It was a women's camp at one time, but during the war it was a youth camp. Didn't know about the 14th Div assignment, but I agree with you regarding Totenkopf.

Hi, dear members of the forum. I have a question for you, maybe a little off topic. I have a Totenkopfring
owned by Oertli. The ring is dated 1943. As far as I understand, not every ordinary SS has had such a ring. However, I cannot find its owner in the Dienstalterliste 1943 a 1944. Is this some explanation?

Oertli was promoted SS-Ostuf. on 30 Jan. 1940 and if he did get promoted to SS-Hstuf. then it was in the last weeks of the war, he was SS-Ostuf. in March 1945, so he would be too junior to appear in the DAL`s during wartime.

From Sep. 1944 he was SS-Ostuf. with 2./Felders.Btl.14
