Wow, this is strangely good timing. I was just searching today for information about Otto. My grandmother's first husband was Otto Doberschutz. He is, in fact, exactly who you are asking about. We have some scanned papers of his military records including his birthday, SS#, and party # all of which correspond to George_W's response above. We also have a scanned photograph of him with my grandmother.

Can any of you tell me any information about him and where I could get this information? We have only a little and it was very "hidden" by my grandmother so we don't know very much about him. We are trying to dig up as much information as we can about our family history. My grandmother is now dead so we're limited as to what we can get. We have an article about Maurice Papon that barely mentions him, but we're not sure what it really has to do with him.

Thank you for any help you can give!

Does anyone have any information about what happened to Doberschutz after the war? I think he was declared dead in 1948.

In November 1944 SS-Ustuf Otto Doberschütz along with large numbers of other Sipo/SD men from France had been transferred to Slovakia. Doberschutz went to Einsatzgruppe H/Sonderkommando 29 and by the end of Nov 1944 was Stützpunkleiter Tyrnau.

The lack of a post-war history may indicate he did not survive Czechoslovakia.

When typing Untersturmführer Otto Doberschütz in the Google searchengine I did find this:

I'll do my best....

The in Leipzig born Otto Doberschütz(born 1913), completed a training to tradesman and went to the higher tradeschool. After several different jobs he started to work in the literaturedepartment, starting on July 1st 1935. In 1936 he was transfered to the SD-Hauptamt in Berlin and started to work in Hauptabteilung(headdepartment)I 31(press and literature). In 1943 he was head of the Grenzpolizeikommissariat(border police office)in Pau/France. In January 1945 he was promoted to Obersturmführer.

L. Sindelarova in her book about Einsatzgruppe H in Slovakia stated that he did not survive the war but she did not provide any details. Unfortunately he is not listed on the VDK website.

Dear Steve,

In spite he led a Grenzpolizei Kommissariat Pau, therefore I never saw any reference to a police rank could it be like some civil servants mobilised in SIPO Dienst , mobilised as SD-Führer in Judenreferat then Grepo .
Best regards

Georges
