I know it can't be him, but isn't he the double of Karl Zech?

The photo was copied from the cover of P. Mooney's "Dietrich's Warriors" https://www.amazon.com/Dietrichs-Warrio ... 0764319841

I assume that the SS-Ostubaf. was identified inside the book.

SS-Ostubaf. with Fritz Witt is Albert "Papa" Schuh. on the left is SS-Ustuf. Franz Witt, who was killed in Greece in April 1941.

If Franz Witt was killed in Greece in April 1941 and Papa Schuch was promoted to SS-Stubaf. in June 1944 (apparently never even reaching the rank of SS-Ostubaf.), how can the SS-Ostubaf. be Papa Schuch?

Cheers,
Ivan

Cheers,

Ivan, you are right - it is NOT Albert Schuch.
His rank, awards and appearance is not fit. In addition, pay attention to the his empty black left collar insignia and Allgemeine-SS shoulder boards (narrow, in comparison with Waffen-SS).
If this photo signed as Albert Schuch in any book, this is undoubtedly an error.
Best,

Andrey.

Strange, I thought someone would recognise him immediately. I can't put a name to his face, but I do remember him very well from a different photo. (But I can't find it!) He has a bit Donald-Sutherland-ish kind of face :)

Cheers,
Ivan
