Out of "Die Generale der Waffen-SS und der Polizei", volume 3, chapter "Oberg":
24.01.1943 Deportation von 1.642 Personen aus Marseille*) als Vergeltungsaktion wegen eines Anschlags auf deutsche Offiziere.
*): Mindestens 782 französische und ausländische Juden, in das Lager Compiègne; bei der Verladung in Güterwaggons (Gare d‘Arenc) am Morgen sind anwesend: Gen.d.Inf. Hans Felber (* 08.07.1889 Wiesbaden, † 08.03.1962 Frankfurt/M.), Ritterkreuzträger Oberst der Schutzpolizei Bernhard Griese (* 17.01.1897 Ribnitz, † 11.02.1964 Kiel) und Oberg (in Zivil). Am 23. und 25.03.1943 werden die in Marseille verhafteten Juden mit zwei Transporten nach Sobibor deportiert und dort ermordet. In der ersten Februarhälfte 1943 sprengt das Pionier-Bataillon der 328. ID (GLt Joachim von Tresckow; * 20.06.1894 Danzig-Langfuhr, † 03.11.1958 Bückeburg) den Vieux Port in Marseille (Quelle: Der Blick des Besatzers).

Hi Dieter,

wonderful photos ! in the first we can see Oberg (right) and Griese (center), but who is the guy at the left ?

Was General Joachim von Tresckow related to Henning von Tresckow and Gerd von Tresckow ? The last two were killed because involved in the 20 July 44 bombing against Hitler.

How long did he stay in Marseille ? Where did he move after that ?

Arrived in France after heavy lost on east on october 1942 as part of Felber army. Back to east front on june 43
Armee Kempf (HG Süd) then in july 43 LVII AK / 1. Panzerarmee / HG Süd at Isjum
