While searching for something else I found an officer named Schulze commanding III/SS-Totenkopf-Infanterie-Regiment 2 between Hermann Schleifenbaum (Oct 1939 - May 1940) and Blumenthal in August 1940. Could this Schulze be "my" Wilhelm Schulze?

There are two Wilhelm Schulze in the 1938 DAL
1/Born 15.5.07 Party Nr 727993 SS Nr 19456 Usf 9.11.34 Osf 20.4 35 Beim 83 SS Standarte 1938
2/Born 20.9.1911 Party Nr 656464 SS Nr 48385 Grad SS JS Tolz 1934 Usf 20.4.35 Osf 20.4.36 Hsf? Sbf 4.1.42 I think it is pretty obvious that Nr 2 is the correct one

Mmmmmmmh....
As well as Pena V, also Jérôme in http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=65182 gives W. Schulze's DOB on June 03, 1910 in Potsdam, not November 20, 1911....
Waiting for a clarification, and thanks in advance,
greetings,
Giorgio

The correct Schulze is "Number 2". Now the question is was "Number 2" the CO of III/SS-Totenkopf-Infanterie-Regiment 2 in the summer of 1940? Or to put it this way: Was the first name of that Schulze Wilhelm?

Giorgio,

I have Hermann Schleifenbaum as the CO of III/SS-Totenkopf-Infanterie-Regiment 2 from Oct 1939 to May 1940. The starting date comes from John Moore's KTB's from the top of this page. According to my files Schleifenbaum moved to E-Bataillon (I don't know which E-Bataillon) and was succeeded by this mysterious Schulze. Erich Blumenthal took over 02 Aug 1940 so the gap is from May to 02 Aug 1940.
