Hi,

Some precisions
SCHWEIGER was 1,70 m and the Hascha on the ID Pic is rather short.
It was the only Hascha from Der Führer on 09.04.1943 to be awarded the GCiG

Amazing REUTER is given on his file for 1,75 m whereas he seems to be taller than Heinz Harmel 179,5 m. See photos pages 137 and 138 in GCiG Vol 2 Mark C.Yerger.

I apologize for some typing errors in my previous mail
Read GCiG intead of CGiG
Weber Alois

Patrick

Hi,

I didn't find any complete identification for this pic outside of the 6 Knight's Cross Holders on the left. It's from the same serie.
I guess (from left to right) for the 7th Hstuf Karl-Heinz Lorenz and the 8th Hstuf Rudolf Ullmann, the photo is not very clear, but I see something like Hitler Youth badge. All awards match for the two men.
The 9th is Helmuth Schreiber and 10th Alois Weber

Hi,
I have been very surprised to see in the lately edited book Tiger by Stephan Cazenave and Rüdiger Warnick that the authors took back almost entirely my identification.
A very good book. (see the book review Tiger by John Moore).
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... &p=1365497
I have the french edition.
The photo of the middle page 84 clearly shows our ID Ostuf with the cuffband Langemark that confirms that's the Ostuf Reinhold Scharfe (and that's the Hscha Johann Brandstätter on his left).
Cazenave and Warnick confirm for Ernst Schweiger on the right of Scharfe.
About the last photo of the Weidinger's book posted,
Cazenave and Warnick (photo of the top page 84) identify Hans Pavelka and Rudolf Ullmann.
I think that it is Karl Heinz Lorenz rather than Hans Pavelka because he was awarded the silver wound badge whereas the file of Pavelka only mentions the one in black.
May be someone has a sharper pic to close this identification of Lorenz or Pavelka?

I said also that the visit of Heinrich Himmler happened after this ceremony of April 20, 1943 and Cazenave and Warnick give April 24 (page 87)

What is a pity is that my conclusions have been taken back while the two authors don't participate in this forum, knowing that Tiki is a member he could have conclude this identification...
On his side Mark Yerger, one of the best specialists on this topic didn't give reply anymore...
But it's never too late...

Regards
Patrick

Hello,

I come back to this topic as it has not received definitive answer

I found a confirmation in this book

“SS-Sturmbannführer Helmut SCHREIBER“ Edition Pour le Mérite 2011 (German)

One can see a pic with Schreiber and Ullmann together after this ceremony
About the pic above "Das Reich award ceremony " which is also present in this book are identified Karl-Heinz LORENZ and Rudolf ULLMANN
It would not be Hans Pavelka which is identified here
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... a#p1657362

Mark Yerger made a correction in volume 5 page 296 of the series GCIG holders concerning Fritz Erath mistakenly
identified as Otto Reuter in volume 2.
But nothing about the other men we've talked about in the first pic as Reinhold Scharfe and Ernst Schweiger...

Patrick

Hello,

Concerning the identification of Scharfe and Brandstätter one can see in this photo the sleeve band "Langemark"

Source "" SS-Sturmbannführer Helmut source Schreiber" Pour le Merite Verlag 2011

I think this picture is useful for the understanding of this topic.
