Thanks Mark, makes sense, but there's a SSO-file - just found it in Invenio:

R 9361-III/530892
Hess, Rudolf
Bestandsbezeichnung
Sammlung Berlin Document Center (BDC): Personenbezogene Unterlagen der SS und SA
Geburtsdatum
26.4.1894
Unterlagenart
Personalakte
Alte Signatur
VBS 286 / 6400016934
Benutzungsort
Berlin-Lichterfelde

Has anyone had a look at it and if, what does it say (if anything) about Hess' flight in 1941?

Regards

Mark,

Thank you for your comment on the SS Numbering system and when it started! I’ve been searching forever for Berchtold’s SS Number, and now I know why it didn’t exist! I’m guessing Erhard Heiden had an SS Number? Do you think Hess could have been given an Honorary SS Number at any time? I noticed in the 1935 SS DAL that no SS Number is given under his name!
