A frienly advice for you:
For the correct spelling of " ...führer" and other german idioms you should use
Adding special characters
just click on the omega-icon (Ω) above the edit area and you will get an selection screen where you can easily select the character to include. This function is for example useful for the German characters ü and β.[/b]

Hello Phil,

Would it be possible to please add SS-T.V. Standarten Thüringen and Ostmark to this thread? I really enjoyed your bit on Oberbayern and Brandenburg.

Best,

James

All..here is a nice thumbnail summary of the history of Totenkopf units..really useful for the "numbered" Standarten which became the SS-Infanterie regiments.

Hello TH Albright,

Thanks for the website link pertaining to the T.V. Standarten, very interesting. I hope to create something along those lines in this thread but even better for AHF.

Best,

James

It may be of interest that Ulrich Besch

Hello Dieter,

Thanks for the info on Besch. Did he get to stay in Bundeswehr despite his membership in the SS-T.V.? It's strange that Conrad Schellong was extradited from the USA not because of his membership in the W-SS but because he was a pre-war member of the SS-T.V. according to Richard Landwehr.

James

Dear James,

Besch simply kept the Sonderprüfgruppe der Annahmeorganisation im Personalgutachterausschuss (special board of examiners in the personnel advisory committee) in the dark about his career in the Totenkopverbände before his engagement. This was an abuse contrary the regulations and justified the instant dismissal.

Cheers
