#1

Post by Ponomarenko » 28 Mar 2010, 08:12

Hi!
Can to me somebody help, I need dates of wartime courses of reserve officers at SS-Junkerschule Bad Tölz. I find next dates:
1. 1.11.1939 – 24.2.1940;
2. 28.3.1940 – 12.6.1940;
3. 3.11.1940 – 31.1.1941
4. ?
5. 1.11.1941 – end 1.1942;
6. 1.2.1942 – 9.5.1942;
7. 4.6.1942. – 5.9.1942;
8. 14.9.1942 – 12.12.1942.

Is this list correct? How many was courses and what it datas? I think that reserve courses were closed at Bad Toelz in 1943-1945 and transfered to other Junkerschulen. Am I right?

Thanks.

Hi

this is what I have

1.Kriegs- Reserve-Führer-Anwärter-Lehrgang 1.2.40 – 8.5.40 an der SS-JS Braunschweig

2.Kriegs- Reserve-Führer-Anwärter-Lehrgang 20.5.40 – 23.7.40 an der SS-JS Braunschweig

3.Kriegs- Reserve-Führer-Anwärter-Lehrgang 3.1.41 – 1.2.41 der SS-Division ”Reich”, 6.2.41 – 22.3.41, 2.Hälfte, der SS-Totenkopf-Division, durchgeführt an der SS-Junkerschule Tölz

4.Kriegs- Reserve-Führer-Anwärter-Lehrgang 1.3.41 – 31.5.41 an der SS-Unterführerschule Radolfzell

5.Kriegs- Reserve-Führer-Anwärter-Lehrgang 1.11.41 – 31.1.42 an der SS-Junkerschule Tölz

6.Kriegs-Reserve-Führer-Anwärter-Lehrgang vom 1.2.1942 bis 30.4.1942 an der SS-Junkerschule Tölz

7.Kriegs-Reserve-Führer-Anwärter-Lehrgang vom 8.6. – 5.9.1942 an der SS-Junkerschule Tölz

8.Kriegs-Reserveführer-Anwärter-Lehrgang 14.09.42 – 12.02.43 an der Junkerschule Tölz
I have an 8th course at the Pionier-Schule der Waffen-SS and at Beneschau as well …

9.Kriegs-Reserveführer-Anwärter-Lehrgang vom 27.01.1943 - 00.04.43 ? an der Junkerschule Tölz
and at the Weapon schools of the Waffen-SS (Hradischko, Prosetschnitz, Beneschau) as well …

With the 10th course, these courses were held at the Weapon schools of the Waffen-SS (Hradischko, Prosetschnitz, Beneschau)

So in my opinion, you are correct:
with the formation of the schools in Hradischko (Pioneer) , Beneschau (Artillery), Prosetschnitz (Kienschlag Pz.Gren.), Göttingen (cavalry) and Janowitz (Pz.Jg./ StuGesch.), the reserve officer courses were transferred to this locations … :wink:

And what about this one??
11. Kriegs-Reserve-Führer-Anwärter-Lehrgang that took place between 10-1-44 and 6-5-44 at the SS-Panzergrenadier-Schule in Kienschlag. Officers who graduated from this course were promoted to SS-Ustuf d.R. on 21-6-1944. Is this correct??? So when I read this, 11.Res.KJL,SS-PzGren.Sch 3.44, they're for sure talking about this mentioned course???

If so they got promoted to SS-Ustuf on the same date as the graduates from the 11. Kriegs-Junkerlehrgang at the SS-Junkerschule in Bad Tölz.
Can someone please explain the difference between these two courses??

And who knows the promodates to SS-Junker d.R., SS-Standartenjunker d.R. and SS-Standartenoberjunker d.R. from the
11. Kriegs-Reserve-Führer-Anwärter-Lehrgang???(I know these promodates from the 11. Kriegs-Junkerlehrgang at Tölz).

I must say this is still a very interesting subject since not so much is written about it on this forum and the internet.
Greetings, Mike

Mikedc - I highly recommend that you read the very good book by Richard Schulze-Kossens, "Die Junkerschulen". You will learn much. Also, in most cases the only people that are promoted to SS-Untersturmführer immediately upon graduation from the Junkerschule are the "Lehrgangsbester". The rest are promoted to SS-Standarten Oberjunker and are sent on to further training or the front.

Who can help to get some information??????
Some information about Atis Snebergs.
Atis Snebergs was borned at 1922. ILUKSTE reg. willage KURCUMI. !1942 . or 1943. graduated RIGA Technical college. 1943. joined in Latvian legion 19. waffen SS division 1. battalion, his father capt. Karlis Snebergs was commander of this battalion. In July 27, 1943 Atis was sent to ARYS to join in instructors course. During this course he met Harijs Kodols, they become friends. At the end of September of 1943 Atis graduated instructor course and returned to KRECNO VOLCHOU front. Then Atis was included in schedule of candidates who are going to send to military school to learn and to get officers rank. At the end of 1943. Atis Snebergs was sent to BAD TOLZ to start officers course. On November 16, 1944 Harijs Kodols was in hospital in Irlava ( Tukuma reg.) and Harijs met hospital attendant Lazdins, who told to Harijs that his friend Atis Snebergs is hard wounded. The last information – Atis Snebergs served in 15.ss division training company until December of 1944. That is all of information I have.
Information about hospital I got from capt. Karlis Sneberg's daughter who is one of the sister of Atis Snebergs so and Her daughter ( capt. Karlis Sneberg's granddaughter) is may wife! Atis Sneberg's sister got this information about hospital from Harijs Kodol's diary. Harijs Kodols is legioneer from Jurmala, His diary was published in Latvia after renewal of independence. so during the war, there existed Reserve officer courses and active war officer courses at junkerschule and at the Heer as well.
Where was the difference regarding selection and drill, formation, education etc`? am I right, that regarding the active offcer course, especially young people with Abitur were joining and the reserve officer corps was especially for already battle-hardened Unteroffiziere, Feldwebel?

Having your Abiturienten means on enlistment you were considered for officer material as of 2.11.40 as a Führerbewerber the other way was to be recommended by your front line officer.They all had to be judged suitable to go on to officer training by the the troop.The Amt für Führernachwuchs would then take over and monitor your progress.
Active meant you had signed a contract and reserve was to serve the duration of the war but you could become active at any time by signing a contract.The active course was slightly longer by a three months one month longer at the Junker school and two months at the Arms school.
