Graf Helldorff on Trial 1944
Does anyone have any images of Wolf Heinrich von Helldorff before the Volksgerichtshof? I believe I've seen him in some documentary about the trials; he was wearing a white summer suit and looked as forlorn as all the other defendants...but I could use some individual images of this.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Jeffhan, below is a link to the actual film of the trial itself. Top link is part one, bottom is part 2. This is very long in total but I imagine that Heldorf is featured (I think the total film is 3 hours in length) so you will see him speak and be berated before Freisler and the Volksgericht. Film quality isn't that great but it's quite interesting to see the trial as it actually happened on film.

Many thanks! That isn't the suit I remember seeing him wear but my mind must be playing tricks on me.
None of the July 20th conspirators were treated well after their arrest, but Helldorff seems to have been singled out for especially bad treatment. Hitler and (especially) Goebbels regarded his presence with the plotters as a personal betrayal. Hitler is supposed to have ordered that he be made to watch all those condemned to die in his group be executed before his own turn came.
Too bad that image is watermarked - it would be perfect for the article I'm doing.... but thanks again!

Helldorff was an odd conspirator in regard of his past : he rose in german society thanks to Hitler as SA leader then as police prasident (which is often given to non professional policeman) in Berlin. he led too a time leader of the Gestapo Potsdam from1933 to 1935. i wonder how long time he could remain in a "new" germany like chief of german police !
In the official book upon the german resistance against hitler 20 juillet 1944 edited by the press office of the Federal gouvernement the only entry is in the official list of killed of 20 july 1944.

Just a question regarding the watermarking on the photograph posted by Andrey. It looks to me as if the picture was taken out of a newsreel. The vertical scratches on the picture seem to indicate this. Is this a valid copyright ? I have seen this picture before, only much smaller without the watermarking.
