LAH Officer
Who is the SS Officer who appears on the left of these 2 pictures with Kurt Meyer and Sepp Dietrich from Platz der Leibstandarte?

Re: LAH Officer
He is the Werner Pötschke i think this Photo was taken during the battle of Kharkov
Re: LAH Officer
Respectfully, that last ID is inaccurate and is not Werner Pötschke.
The person you are wanting an ID on is SS-Hstuf. Georg Isecke who I had some correspondence with. The images are from a commanders conference near the front with K.Meyer, Wünsche, Wisch and others in attendance during the 3rd Battle of Kharkov. Dietrich arrived in a half-track and K.Meyer had him combat dismount by sliding off the side plate rather than exit from the rear. It was a bit of a humorous event but showed the lighter side of Dietrich and Meyer's personal relationship.
Isecke replaced Max Wünsche's previous adjutant while Wünsche was still with the Leibstandarte's Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung. Isecke went with Wünsche to SS-Pz.Rgt. 1 and then he took Isecke with him as his Ia when he formed SS-Panzer Regiment 12 of 12th SS-Panzer Division Hitlerjugend. They would attempt to breakout of the Falaise Pocket together and would end up captured separately. They had a long lasting Kameradschaft both during the war and after with Isecke remaining loyal to his 'Chef' (Chief).
Cheers!

Re: LAH Officer
Thank you eindhoven. So according to https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic ... e#p1868241, at the time of the Third Battle of Kharkov, he held a position as SS-Obersturmführer and Chef 1. Batterie / SS-Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 1 "Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler"? Does anyone know the date of the first two pictures was taken?

As with many SS-Kriegsberichter images the dates of this photo series only state the month(s), February/March. We know some photos in this Bundesarchiv series were taken by Franz Roth, per his photographic descriptions for the roll and frame 'Raum Charkow", area(outskirts) of Kharkov. Other photos of this day, particularly the interior of this briefing(my own bookplate of images attached below), are actually from Max Wünsche's photo album and other unnamed sources.
Given your linked dates and the particulars of this meeting per Franz Roth as being Raum Charkow it is possible, not definitely yet, to narrow this to on or around February 10, 1943, when SS-Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 1 is attached to Kampfgruppe Witt and fights near Alexejewka. Kurt Meyer's struggles in Alexejewka being documented in his own book. This correlates your Isecke linked dates as well.
I noticed you updated your image captions on your blog. Here for your enjoyment is my sequenced images of Dietrich arriving in a Schützenpanzerwagen and Kurt Meyer having him combat dismount by sliding off the side plate armor rather than exiting the vehicle from the rear. Now, granted Dietrich isn't springing off the sides of this half-track but he did okay.

Re: LAH Officer
Many thanks guys
Re: LAH Officer
Per Heimdal ,SS-Hstuf. Fend in sheepskin coat and they place it near the tractor factory around 18 Mar 1943 based on the date of the publication of the photos which is spurious. My date is based off the series itself and specifically those present at the Anlage coinciding with the formation of KG Witt and the secondary issues K.Meyer faced in Alexejewka in which the Stug.Abt played a large role in the destruction of Soviet armor.
Thank you Timo for the ID of Jupp Steinbüchel.
Without consulting BA on any contact sheets or specifics from Roth that may survive with a two month date span it can be serious work to Sherlock something definitive. Another example of an Anlage with Kurt Meyer, Gerd Bremer and Gustav Knittel present. How can we say it's either before or after the 3rd battle of Kharkov?
