Re: Sepp Dietrich/Fegelein Uniform
Fegelein looks sharp. Who IS his tailor?
Can someone enlighten us about this uniform (is it white)?
How much leeway was there is the SS about uniforms?

Re: Sepp Dietrich
Taken the same day in Prague whereupon LSSAH “returning victoriously from the Eastern Front” put on a display of might before 10K Germans and Czechs down the length of Wenceslas Square, know to the German's as Wenzelplatz . Dietrich appears comically diminutive next to Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia, Konstantin Freiherr von Neurath (1873–1956)

Re: Sepp Dietrich
At the end of the 1980s when I made visited to the Zentrale Stelle Ludwigsburg (before the Bundesarchiv took over the files) the Deputy Leiter would take me to his home for lunch where his wife had prepared soup and sandwiches. His home was in in Ludwigsburg-Ossweil, literally just round the corner from where Sepp Dietrich's grave once stood (it has been moved elsewhere since), decorated in flags in greenery. I was told that former SS-men regularly paid homage to the grave.
But here is another photo:

Re: Sepp Dietrich
Steve,
I visited the grave in Ludwigsburg several times, the last time in 2000. Since then, the gravestone has been removed and the grave has been recycled, not moved. It's well known that former Waffen-SS men and sightseeing tourists often paid visits to the location and I believe it was for that reason that the Ludwigsburg authorities made the decision to recycle the plot.
Regards,
Max.

Re: Sepp Dietrich
Dietrich must have kept white dress uniform (goofy's picture above) with impressive collar tabs for best.
This picture shows Dietrich at surrender in Greece, possibly April 1945.

Re: Sepp Dietrich
The white summer tunic was an option for all SS officers. It's not a dress uniform, which was much more formal. The interesting thing about the white summer tunic worn by Dietrich above, is that the collar tab insignia appear to be in silver bullion and not gold bullion, famously favoured by Dietrich. I assume it's because gold would clash with the white material of his jacket. Silver looks so much better against white!

“SS-Obersturmführer Fischer. fell on 3.9.1939 near Burzenin, Poland" Sepp Dietrich looks at the first dead officer of his Leibstandarte, SS-Ostuf. Fischer, who belonged to the 2nd company and was in command of the 3rd company during this engagement.
