Execution date?
Execution date?
In June 1951 seven men were executed by hanging in Landsberg. I would like to know the exact date. Some sources say the 7th, while others say the 8th. What date is the correct date?
Best regards,

Re: Execution date?
Prison records show 7th June 1951. His grave marker also showed 7th June before removal.
He was executed with Otto Ohlendorf, Paul Blobel, Werner Braune, Erich Naumann, Hans Schmidt and Georg Schallermair.

Well, I guess the 7th is the official date. Thank you.Max Williams wrote:Prison records show 7th June 1951. His grave marker also showed 7th June before removal.

I don't know the hour when they were executed, but table in the last Blobel picture showing him alive says clearly 7th June 1951.

So, one could safely say that Pohl, Ohlendorf, Blobel, Naumann, Braune, Schallermair and Schmidt were executed on June 7th, 1951?

Re: Execution date?
I'd like to know where that photo is from, too, because he may not be alive in it. EXEC WCPL 7 JUNE 51 would seem to be mean "Executed at War Criminals Prison Landsberg, 7 June 1951". (Landsberg was referred to as War Criminals Prison No. 1 by the US.) The Wikipedia article states (citing a source I don't have access to) that the executions occurred shortly after midnight on June 7.

He's alive in it. The red jacket men were photographed on the scaffold and post-mortem. This photo is him standing on the scaffold doing a fantastic impersonation of someone about to be hanged.Roches wrote:I'd like to know where that photo is from, too, because he may not be alive in it. All photos and prison records held by the National Archives indicate the seven men were executed on 7th June 1951. The confusion arises through crap sites like Wikipedia saying "....the executions occurred shortly after midnight on June 7th.." Technically, 12am (midnight) on 7th June and anything shortly after it means ON 7th JUNE. Anything before it is 6th June.
And here is Pohl's grave marker before it was removed, clearly showing his date of death as 7th June.
