The U.S. War Crimes Tribunal sentence Adolf Hitler's personal physician, 43-year-old Karl Brandt to death at the Doctors' Trial in August 1947. Brandt, who had been Reich Commisser for Health and Sanitation, was indicted with 22 other Nazi doctors and SS officers. The Tribunal found him guilty on all four counts charging him with conspiracy in aggressive wars, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and membership in the criminal SS organization. Among those criminal acts was his participating in and consenting to using concentration camp inmates as test subjects in medical experiments.
Karl Brandt war ein chirurgischer Begleitarzt von Adolf Hitler, SS-Gruppenführer der Allgemeinen SS, SS-Brigadeführer und Generalmajor der Waffen-SS sowie Generalkommissar für das Sanitäts- und Gesundheitswesen

Trzebinski was born in Jutroschin, Province of Posen (now Rawicz County) in mixed German-Polish family, but he choose German option. After his study and graduation he became a physician in Saxony. Trzebinski was a member of NSDAP and SS. Trzebinski was a Lagerarzt at KZ Auschwitz from July 1941 to October 1941, and from October 1941 to September 1943 at KZ Lublin. He was then transferred to KZ Neuengamme concentration camp. At Neuengamme he was the supervisor for SS-Arzt Kurt Heißmeyer. Heißmeyer had done medical experiments on adult concentration camp prisoners and children. This SS- Hauptsturmführer was liable for the medical care of the inmates of the Neuengamme camp and all its subcamps.
Trzebinski was involved in the murder of 20 children at the subcamp Bullenhuser Damm, a former school partly destroyed during the bombing of Hamburg in World War II. Heißmeyer had ordered 20 Jewish children (10 boys and 10 girls) from Auschwitz to continue his experiments. His purpose had been to inject tuberculosis bacteria and to excise the axillary lymph nodes. On the night of 20 April 1945, Trzebinski injected morphine into the children (to sedate them) after which they were hanged in the basement of the Bullenhuser Damm school. That same night, 28 adults died as well, mostly Soviet prisoners.

Next specialist - SS-Lagerarzt Johann Kremer (26 December 1883 – 8 January 1965) was a professor of anatomy and human genetics at Münster University who served the Wehrmacht on May 20, 1941. Next he transfered to the Auschwitz concentration camp as SS-Obersturmführer and a physician during World War II, from 30 August 1942 to 18 November 1942.
Johann Kremer was tried in the Auschwitz trials at the sitting of the Supreme Court National Tribune in Kraków throughout November and December 1947. Based on the contents of his diary and his own confessions, Kremer participated in fourteen gassings as well as multiple public executions and special actions, also known as gassings. During his testimony, he described the process by which he selected his victims, the process of gaining the necessary information for his research, and he states that "after I had been given this information a medical orderly would come and kill the patient with an injection in the heart area. To my knowledge all these patients were killed with phenol injections. The patient died immediately after being given such an injection. I myself never administered fatal injection".

Here is the photo of Kremer taken by the Polish authorities during his custody in Poland.

Medical Review Auschwitz - interesting infos about "achievements" of German-Austrian medicine in German-Austrian concentration camps:
https://www.mp.pl/auschwitz/journal
Plus - "The Rhythm of Death", is a reference to Antoni Kępiński’s renowned book "The Rhythm of Life" in which he first published his Auschwitz essays. My four essays outline the complex issues involved in the psychology of the individual condemned to die, with all the diverse states of his body, mind and spirit, and the various defence mechanisms available to him.

Not Mengele - but only victim of settlements with murder-doctors in GDR!
Horst Paul Silvester Fischer (31 December 1912 – 8 July 1966) was a German doctor and member of the SS, executed in East Germany for crimes committed at Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during World War II. Fischer was bron and orphaned and grew up with relatives in Dresden and Berlin. After attending medical school at the University of Berlin, Fischer received his medical degree in 1937. He had joined the SS in 1933, at the age of 20, and the NSDAP four years later. He was transferred to German-Austrian KL Auschwitz-Birkenau in November 1942, where he became one of the highest-ranking physicians and participated at selections at the ramp from arriving trains. From November 1943 to September 1944 he was the main camp doctor in the infirmary of the Monowitz concentration camp. After the war he practised medicine in the German Democratic Republic for 20 years before trials of war criminals brought his identity into the light. He was tried by the GDR Supreme Court, found guilty and sentenced to death. After the Chairman of the State Council comrade Walter Ulbricht refused clemency, Fischer was executed by Fallschwertmaschine in Leipzig on 8 July 1966.

Austrian SS-Hauptsturmführer Hans Kurt Eisele (13 March 1913 in Donaueschingen – 3 May 1967 in Cairo) was concentration camp doctor
Eisele joined in January 1940 the Waffen-SS, transferring to KZ Mauthausen (and from February to August 1941 in KZ Buchenwald). He served as a camp doctor, and murdered 300 prisoners suffering from tuberculosis. He also performed experimental surgery, sometimes without anaesthesia and/or with fatal outcome; in addition, he abused and tortured patients. After transferring to KZ Natzweiler, he joined the SS-Lazarett in Prague in June 1942. He subsequently transferred to the SS Division Das Reich on the Eastern Front for military duty. In February 1945 he was sent to KZ Dachau, where he served under the Erste Artz Fritz Hintermayer. He was arrested by U.S. forces in April 1945.
Eisele was tried in the Dachau main trial for his participation in [only] three executions. He was sentenced to death, next sentence to a life sentence and finally judgment be converted to a ten-year sentence in Landsberg. After another penalty reduction, Eisele, on 26 February 1952, was released from prison. During of the trial of Martin Sommer, a guard at Buchenwald, new allegations were made against Eisele, who fled to Egypt. There he settled under the pseudonym Carl Debouche in upmarket Cairo suburb Maadi.

Regarding Dr. Harald Strohschneider, as in:--

https://www.forum.axishistory.com/viewt ... 2#p2096896

May I ask if any further information has come to light about his later career? Klee 2003, usually reliable, simply has his life after 1943 as "unknown".

I assume that as Harald Strohschneider was invalided out in 1943 he is not the same Strohschneider as the infamous Gestapo commander who was responsible for clearing the Cluj ghetto in 1944?

There is however a sighting of SS-Obersturmführer Dr. Harald Strohschneider in the Salzburg area in July 1944, giving a public lecture about his imprisonment in Corsica and North Africa. And, in the same region of Austria but some years later, 1949, a Dr. Strohschneider is listed here as attending to political amnesty business:

https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/11582637.pdf

Any more information on this particular Nazi doctor would be most welcome. Thank you.

PS For example, does anyone know if Strohschneider (an Austrian) went through denazification after the war? There is no reference to him in the only work on the Volksgericht I have available to me at the moment (by Hellmut Butterweck).

PPS Since posting I have found the outline details of Strohschneider's Volksgericht trial:

LG Wien Vg 5e Vr 3155 / 47: §§ 10 and 11 VG

And also (via USHMM):

Verlauf der Vorerhebungen/Voruntersuchung bzw. des Gerichtsverfahrens:
Am 13.12.1966 teilte die Staatsanwaltschaft mit, dass die Anzeige gegen folgende Personen bereits zurückgelegt worden war:...
Dr. Harald STROHSCHNEIDER

So now I wait on the archives re-opening (unless someone knows any more).
