SD Officer Research

#1

Post by ScottB » 18 Oct 2017, 18:15

Wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for conducting research on a SS-Obersturmführer Seefried who achieved that rank on or before 03.40. Perhaps rank increased throughout the war. Perhaps not, transferred, retired out or KIA. The name does not appear on any pre-war or wartime SS-Dienstalterslistes that I have access to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you much Andrey and Peter for your responses!

Interesting information. Timeline and rank appear logical. However, strikes me as odd given a SD and Waffen SS history not a member of the NSDAP. Wondering if there is a way to verify.

This person Dr. Seefried was interrogated in 1978 and said (quote form the original document):
"Ich heiße Johannes Seefried und bin am 1. 2. 1911 in Konstanza/Rumänien geboren. Ich bin Augenarzt und wohne in....."
Dr. Seefried was the doctor in Adolf Diekmann's Batallion. Seefried had to accompany the 3rd company to Oradour, driving in an SPW. That same SPW was used later to transport the badly injured Oberscharführer Gnüg back to Limoges.

Hello, back to Dr. Seefried. I can report that I received from the Bundesarchiv a "Gesundheitskarte", a "Karteikarte" and his "Personalbogen". These documents confirm indeed that Dr. Seefried was not a party member. His last rank was Hauptsturmführer and he served as a medical doctor. His place of birth is given as "Hasidurluc", his residence in Roumania being Konstanza. The documents came with two very good photographs of Seefried which I believe not to have permission to upload.

Hallo
Ich bin zufällig auf den Beitrag gestossen und interessiere mich für Johannes Seefried, da es mein Opa ist. Kannst du mir mehr schicken?

Does not look like he was in the SD.
Were you thinking of someone else, who served where?
