SS-Junkerschule Bad Tölz

Post by tachmatz » 31 Jan 2018 16:24

I am trying to find out wether Lettow-Vorbeck was actually the Commander of SS-Junkerschule in Bad Tölz by the time Max Wünsche graduated. In anycase, I would appreciate if anyone could give me some information of the SS-Junkerschule Commanders from 1936 to 1945.

Thank you very much

Hitler didn't trust him. Couldn't be appointed to high posts.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_von_Lettow-Vorbeck

Between May 1928 and July 1930, the former General served as a Reichstag deputy for the monarchist German National People's Party. He intensely "distrusted Hitler and his movement,"[58] and approached his relative Hans-Jürgen von Blumenthal with an idea to form a coalition with the Stahlhelm against the Nazis. This resulted in the Vorbeck-Blumenthal Pact. Later, when Hitler offered him the ambassadorship to the Court of St James's in 1935, he "declined with frigid hauteur."; the suggestion for the nomination as ambassador to the Court of St James had come from retired Colonel Richard Meinertzhagen during a visit to Berlin.[53] During the 1960s, Charles Miller asked the nephew of a Schutztruppe officer, "I understand that von Lettow told Hitler to go fuck himself." The nephew responded, "That's right, except that I don't think he put it that politely."[53]

After his blunt refusal, Lettow "was kept under continual surveillance" and his home office was searched.[53] The only rehabilitation due to his legendary status among the German people came in 1938, when at the age of 68 he was promoted to the rank of General for Special Purposes, but he was never recalled to active service.

Thank you very much for your kind response.

I understand why Hitler wouldn't trust him.

Do you happen to know which German officers were in charge of the SS-Junkerschule in Bad Tölz between 1936 - 1945?

I have found this source: https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJn ... _Tölz.html

This link states that the General Commanders of the SS-Junkerschule in Bad Tölz were the following:

SS-Obersturmbannführer Paul Lettow (1934–1935)
SS-Brigadeführer Bernhard Voss (1935–1938)
Oberst Arnold Altvater-Mackensen (1937–1938) (an acting Heer commandant)
SS-Oberführer Werner Freiherr von Schele (1938–1940)
SS-Oberführer Julian Scherner (1940)
SS-Obersturmbannführer Cassius Freiherr von Montigny (1940)
SS-Brigadeführer Werner Dörffler-Schuband (1940)
SS-Standartenführer Lothar Debes (1942–1943)
SS-Brigadeführer Gottfried Klingemann (1943)
SS-Brigadeführer Werner Dörffler-Schuband (1943–1944)
SS-Obersturmbannführer Fritz Klingenberg (1944–1945)
SS-Obersturmbannführer Richard Schulze-Kossens (1945)
SS-Obersturmbannführer Karl-Heinz Anlauft (1945)
SS-Obersturmbannführer Bernhard Dietsche (1945)

Is this source reliable?

As you can see, the first in Command was Paul Lettow. He must be the same person (his full name was Paul Emil Von Lettow-Vorbeck)
