Who was substitute for the SS-Gruppenführer Ebrecht, after he became ill 07.07.1944.
Yerger – Allgemeine-SS gives: 07.07.1944 – 09.01.1945 SS-Gruppenführer Haltermann, but is there proof of this claim? There is no record of this appointment in Haltermanns personal file and his statements after the war!
HM.
Höhere SS- und Polizeiführer "Nordost" (Königsberg)
Re: Höhere SS- und Polizeiführer Nordost(Königsberg)
There is no proof for Haltermann because it was not him; it was Günter Hellwig:
to Aug 1944, SS-Gruf. Georg Ebrecht was deputy HSSPF Königsberg under Prützmann.
Ebrecht then had a stroke and spent the next 5 months recuperating at Zoppot on the Baltic coast near Danzig. During this time his was replaced by SS-Gruf. Hellwig.
Ebrecht went to Königsberg in Jan. 1945 to offer his services to Hellwig.
On 12 March 1945 he and Hellwig were at Pillau where at least Ebrecht flew to Berlin.
